Kohima, March 24 (MExN): The Kohima Bypass Two Lane (green zone) Road Project Landowners Association, D Khel Kohima Village has informed that it would seek legal recourse with regard to land compensations and rehabilitations. The decision was arrived at during an emergency meeting on March 23, it informed in a press release on Wednesday.
In the press release, the Association stated that it had forwarded 4 petitions to the district administration in the matters concerning land survey and proper compensations and rehabilitations in accordance with Right to Fair Compensation &Transparent Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act 2013.
While the compensation and rehabilitations remains yet to be finalized, the works of earth cutting are going on full swing, it stated.
Owing to the silence of the district administration, the house unanimously resolved that it is left with no option but to seek legal recourse, the release stated, while adding that the “totally arrogant and a suppressive move of the authority concerned,” has led to confusions and untold mental anxieties amongst the bona-fide landowners.
Meanwhile, it cautioned all affected landowners within the jurisdiction “to keep vigil of any tactics implemented to sabotage its fight for fair and transparent compensations and rehabilitations.”
