Kohima, October 11 (MExN): The Department of Commerce, Kohima College, celebrated its 10th anniversary on October 9 with the launch of a Student-preneur Incubation Initiative aimed at promoting entrepreneurship and innovation among students.

The celebration was held under the theme “Celebrating a Decade of Growth and Progress”.

The initiative was formally launched by Kohima College Principal Dr Vitsosie Vupru. It aims to nurture entrepreneurial ideas and support students in developing viable business ventures through mentoring, guidance and incubation support.

The programme featured a keynote address by Biswajit Sarkar, Associate Professor in the Department of Commerce at Dimapur Government College, who was the first head of the Commerce Department at Kohima College when it was established in 2016.

Sarkar encouraged students to use the milestone as an opportunity to reflect on the department's journey, assess their achievements and challenges, and renew their commitment to future growth.

He emphasised the importance of learning from past experiences, recognising the progress made over the years and working collectively towards further development.

The celebration also featured a business proposal competition and a quiz competition, providing students with opportunities to showcase their entrepreneurial ideas, business acumen, knowledge and intellectual abilities.

The event marked a decade of the department's existence and reaffirmed its commitment to academic growth, innovation and the promotion of entrepreneurial skills among students.
