Kohima, June 4 (MExN): To oversee and take stock of the lockdown measures put in place in Kohima district, Advisor for Urban Development and Municipal Affairs, Dr Neikiesalie Nicky Kire and Advisor for Technical Education and Election, Medo Yhokha along with EAC Kevinguto Kulnu went around Kohima town area on June 4.

During their inspection, a DIPR report said the team observed that “dedicated and responsible volunteers” have to be assigned to manage and monitor the movement of public especially on window/partially relaxed days in areas under the purview of the wards and colonies.

It will also be prudent for wards/colonies without open marketing spaces, to introduce mobile vegetable markets (on Tata mobile pickups) to avoid crowd and rush.

They said the majority of the dwellers were positively responding to the collective call of total lockdown. However, they observed that “a number of callous people and vehicles were also out, simply loitering to and fro taking undue advantage of the window days relaxed to facilitate public conveniences, adding much to the crowding and queuing of vehicles, thereby entailing risk.”

Meanwhile, the team acknowledged the district administration, police and medical team for doing a commendable job.

The team also visited Jubilee Memorial Centre, Lerie offered by Kohima Ao Baptist Church for quarantining of healthcare workers. They interacted with the nurses from NHAK stationed at the Centre.
