Kohima DC directs shops located in crowded areas for immediate closure

Kohima, March 21 (MExN): The Deputy Commissioner of Kohima, Gregory Thejawelie has notified that as a precautionary measure to prevent and control the outbreak of COVID-19 in Kohima district all the shops located in the crowded areas which offer “no scope for enforcing satisfactory distancing” are directed for immediate closure.

 


Some of the locations include: BOC market and Mao market (b) Super market (Vegetable market); Bazaar along the footpath behind local ground; Razhu point market and evening bazaar; High school junction market; Miachieolhithochu Peraciezie; all foothpath vendors; all second hand shops in Kohima; all night bazaar and weekly market and Market at Mohonkhola, TCP Gate Area and Tinpati.

 


“However, those shops and outlets dealing with food grains, vegetables, food items, medicines and other essential items and goods are exempted,” the DC Kohima stated. 

 


The notice added that all fast food stalls, hotels and restaurants, dhabas, eateries etc are directed for closure. However, any such outlets may keep its kitchen open if it plans on home delivery or takeaways, provided all health safety measures are followed. All malls, departmental stores, gyms, beauty parlours, saloons or barber shops and all such establishments are directed for closure.

 


Further, it stated that entry of public into any bank, financial institutions are hereby restricted, unless for very essential and emergency activities, like passing of government bills and payment of user charges and fees, withdrawal of cash for urgent purposes and other such needs. 

 


“It is expected that all banks are adhering to the health advisories on prevention and spread of COVID-19. The directives come into force with immediate effect till further orders,” the DC added.
