Kohima, March 18 (MExN): The monthly meeting of Kohima District Planning and Development Board was held on March 16 at the DPDB Conference Hall. The meeting was chaired by Gregory Thejawelie, NCS, DC Kohima and Vice Chairman, DPDB Kohima.

A DIPR report stated that EAC Kezocha presented before the house an application requesting the up-gradation of Kezo town under Kezocha Basa to the status of an Urban Station. He gave a brief presentation on the need for the up-gradation and provided with proper data and statistics which proved the eligibility of Kezo Town to be considered for u-gradation to an Urban Station. The house after a brief discussion and review of the data and statistics provided decided to recommend the up-gradation of Kezo town for consideration to the Government of Nagaland.

The Department of PHED gave a detailed powerpoint presentation of the various developmental projects undertaken by the department under Kohima District. The presentation proved to be informative and educative as it gave an opportunity for the members present to understand issues regarding the water scarcity in the state capital and the steps that are being currently undertaken to improve the supply of proper drinking water to every household under Kohima District.

The presentation was followed up by a discussion on what more can be done and how different departments can contribute to help the PHED department in solving the problem of water scarcity as well as the nuisance of pipelines which have become the main culprit responsible for clogged drains and also the destruction of new metalled  roads.

The house spent some time in discussing some pressing matters related to the ongoing pandemic of Corona virus (COVID-19) and the steps undertaken to prevent the spread of the virus in the state capital.

The Department of PWD Roads and Bridges and The Department of Land Resources were selected to give power point presentations on the next DPDB meeting in April.
