Kohima DPDB’s ward adoption programme concluded

The culmination programme of 9th Kohima Town A/C Ward Adoption under Kohima District Planning and Development Board for 2019-20 for Lower PWD Colony Ward-II took place on Monday.

In commemoration of the culmination programme, Nagaland Advisor for Urban Development and Municipal Affairs Dr Neikiesalie (Nicky) Kire inaugurated a waiting shed constructed by the Ward Adoption Committee.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Nicky expressed gratitude to the public of Lower PWD colony for their support and cooperation which made the developmental activities possible under Ward Adoption packages. “Let us continue to have unity so that we can do many more things,” he said.

Dr Nicky also assured that the link road of Lower PWD colony to Midland would be taken up along with other unfinished works, as requested by the colony.

Meanwhile, Satsü Angami, Convenor of the Development Committee, Lower PWD presented the completion project reports under Ward Adoption Program at Lower PWD colony during 2019-2020.

The projects included construction of waiting shed near Lotha Baptist Church, toilet construction initiated by Dr Menuosietuo Tseikha, Project Director Land Resource Department Kohima; Youth Recreational Hall; construction of footstep; black topping of road from Lotha Baptist Church Kohima to Chandmari HSS; black topping of road from Lower PWD Taxi junction to Midland Bridge; installation of transformer 250 kilowatts; installation of 7 solar lights; installation of 3 safety convex reflection mirrors as well as replacement and new installation of electrical posts.

On human resource development, training programmes have been conducted on paper bag making for women, hospitality and management training by tourism department and vermi compost training by Land Resource Department, he added.

Others who spoke on the occasion included Kohima SDO (C) Sadar and WAC Convenor Daniel Angami, Chairperson of Lower PWD Panchayat Hayio Ngullie, chairman, Ward Chairperson PWD Panchayat Dozhohü Tunyi and President, Association of Kohima Municipal Ward Panchayat Neibulie Kiewhuo.

Earlier, the function was chaired by Renthunglo Tungoe while Meyi Sanglir delivered welcome address.

Vote of thanks was proposed by Kevimese Mere, president, Lower PWD Youth Organization.
