Kohima: Inter-high school literary competition held

Kohima, March 5 (MExN): One day district level inter-high school literary competition in essay writing and quiz on the topics ‘The internet created to be a change’ and ‘Different forms of addiction among students’ was organized by the Department of Youth Resources and Sports at Lower Forest colony Community Hall in Kohima on March 3.

During the programme, District Youth Resource Officer Chubarenla Longchari said that the inter-high school literary competition aims to broaden and enhance the students’ communication skills, their verbal and written skills and expression. Whether you win or lose, both ways you are going home with more knowledge or something perhaps you did not know, she said while encouraging the participants. “Winner is just a title and fades away but the knowledge is what you gain,” she added. 

Schools participating in the competition included Chandmari Hr Sec School, Mt Hermon, Stella Hr Sec School and Northfield. The judges were Dr Moaakum Kichu, Assistant Prof, Department of Botany Kohima Science College and K Alibo Achumi, Assistant Prof Department of Sociology, St Joseph's College Jakhama.

Emao M Lam from Chandmari Hr Secondary School bagged the first prize in the essay competition while Hisinle Kemp from Stella Hr Sec. School and Kechanei-u Huozha from Northfeild came second and third respectively. 

In the quiz competition, the first position was won by Mt Hermon School, while Northfield and Stella Hr Sec School stood second and third respectively.
