Kohima, August 21 (MExN): The Kohima District MY Bharat Advisory Council (MYB DAC) on Friday held a meeting at the office chamber of the Deputy Commissioner, Kohima, to review youth-centric programmes and strengthen youth participation in the district.
The meeting was chaired by Deputy Commissioner B Henok Buchem, NCS.
District Youth Officer, MY Bharat Kohima, Pradeep, made a presentation on MY Bharat, covering its objectives, organisational structure and various youth-centric programmes being implemented across the district.
He said MY Bharat is an autonomous body under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, focusing on youth-led development and constructive engagement of young people in the 15-29 age group.
The meeting stressed the need for greater convergence among government departments, educational institutions and youth organisations for effective implementation of MY Bharat programmes, avoiding duplication and facilitating wider youth participation.
Members also discussed strengthening youth participation in experiential learning programmes, sports activities, skill development initiatives, awareness campaigns and national-level youth programmes.
The District Youth Officer informed that around 30 youth clubs in Kohima are affiliated with MY Bharat and stressed the need for wider registration of youth on the MY Bharat digital platform.
The meeting also discussed encouraging schools and colleges to increase student and youth participation in various programmes with the support of the Deputy Commissioner.
The council further deliberated on the proposed quarterly functioning of the Advisory Council and emphasised coordinated efforts among stakeholders, including the National Service Scheme (NSS), National Cadet Corps (NCC), Youth Resources and Sports Department and other relevant departments.
Such coordination, it said, would help enhance youth engagement, leadership, skill development and participation in nation-building activities.
