The Kohima Pangti Ekhung (KPE) today celebrated its golden jubilee at Kruzo Park, Tsiese Basa under Kohima district.

Speaking on the occasion, L Edward Lotha, (Rtd) Director Higher Education Nagaland said that ‘ism’ is one of the ugliest social diseases destroying the Naga society.

“We see divisions within divisions, splits within splits in the Naga society,” he said.

He said that there are two kinds of unity- positive unity and negative unity.

“I see no harm in a group of people forming a social unit which aims and strives to do good for the well being of all its members without harming or discriminating other people. This is an example of positive unity. An example of negative unity is one in which a group of people under whatever name, unite and resort to such actions aimed at benefitting its members only at the cost of other people or harming others in any way whatsoever,” he said adding that such kind of negative unity should be shunned and discouraged as the same is destructive in nature.

Looking at the mentality of the present Naga society, the only way for forging unity among the Naga's is for all communities and social units to follow the teachings of the Bible in all sincerity as almost all the Nagas profess to be Christians, he added.

“If we stay divided we are doomed for the worst,” he said and encouraged the gathering to come together inspite of the differences in ideology.

Highlighting the 50 years journey of KPE, KPE chairman C Ngangshithung Shidio said “It is a time when it is able to enjoy the fruits of hard works put in over the years.”

Rev. A Khyolamo Jami (Senior Associate Pastor, PBLBC released the jubilee souvenir.

Vote of thanks was proposed by N Nyimtsemo Ngullie.  The celebration concluded with jubilee feast.
