Kohima, May 21 (MExN): Kohima Police personnel while conducting routine checking of vehicles at Khuzama Inter-State Police check gate on Saturday morning noticed a Maruti Gypsy without registration number suspiciously parked on the highway.

Kohima Police PRO in a press release said that the vehicle was then thoroughly inspected and found that plastic soap cases were found concealed in modified compartment of the vehicle.

Altogether, 15 soap cases containing suspected heroin powder weighing 186 gms were recovered and seized from the said vehicle. The value of the seized suspected drugs is estimated to be around Rs 15 lakh in the national market, the PRO stated.

“It is presumed that the driver might have abandoned the vehicle and fled from the scene, seeing the ongoing checking of the vehicles by the police personnel. Efforts are being made to ascertain the identity of the driver as well as the registered owner of the vehicle,” the PRO said.

In this connection, a case under NDPS Act has been registered for further investigation.
