Kohima, June 28 (MExN): The State Hub for Empowerment of Women, under the Department of Social Welfare, Government of Nagaland organised an orientation and training programme for functionaries of the Hubs for Empowerment of Women under Samarthya sub-scheme of Mission Shakti at the SIRD Conference Hall, Kohima on June 28.

A press release stated here that in the keynote address Martha R Ritse (IAS), Secretary, Social Welfare and Administrator, Nagaland State Social Welfare Board highlighted the three umbrella schemes of the Ministry of Women & Child Development, Government of India under which its major schemes and programmes have been classified for effective implementation, viz., Mission Shakti, Mission Saksham Anganwadi and Mission Poshan 2.0, and Mission Vatsalya. 

She informed that the Hubs for Empowerment of Women at the district level will function as the Project Management Unit (PMU) for all the schemes under Mission Shakti, and will act as a single window for providing all kinds of assistance to women. At the district level, the District Hubs for Empowerment of Women (DHEW), currently set up in 11 districts, will work under the respective district administration with the Deputy Commissioner as the Chairperson.

The Director, Social Welfare, Tosheli Zhimomi encouraged all functionaries to sincerely work in their respective districts, and work as a team in close coordination with the district social welfare officials.

Additional Secretary, Social Welfare, Bodeno S Colo and Secretary, NSSWB informed that the HEW aims to facilitate inter-sectoral convergence of women centric schemes and programmes, and therefore the team is required to collectively work to achieve its ultimate vision, which is to strengthen the processes that promote holistic empowerment of women.

Following the first session, the technical session was held where a power point presentation was made on the Public Finance Management System (PFMS) by Vishito Kulnu, Assistant Accounts Officer, PFMS State Directorate, Ministry of Finance, Kohima. Several other presentations were made on Schemes under Mission Shakti, BBBP and Convergent Action, Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana, Women Related Schemes and Programmes, and Women’s Rights and Legislations.
