Kohima: Two arrested for  alleged siphoning of ATM cash

Two persons were arrested by the Kohima police in a suspected case of “fraudulent misappropriation of money” meant for ATMs. According to the Kohima police, the accused were employees of a private cash replenishment agency for the State Bank of India, and were working as ATM operators.

The police said that preliminary investigation of the case had revealed the shortage of Rs 1,84,56,500 in 15 SBI ATMs across Kohima town. It was informed that Rs 38,48,000 have been recovered and further investigation was on “to ascertain the modus operandi and involvement of persons in the fraudulent misappropriation of money meant for ATMs.”

The accused were identified as Mankai Konyak (32 years) and Santosh Khatri (27 years). It was not specified when they were arrested.
