Kohima, April 15 (MExN): The exit programme of Village Adoption Committee (VAC) cum District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) meeting was held at DPDB Hall, Kohima on April 15.
A DIPR report stated that altogether, six VAC teams made presentations on activities undertaken during 2019-2020. The teams included 9 Kohima town assembly constituency (Lower PWD colony), 14 Southern Angami-I (Kigwema village), 8 Western Angami (Sechü Zubza), 15 Southern Angami-II (Kidima village), 10 Northern Angami-I (Chedema model village), 11 Northern Angami-II (Zhadima village).
ADC Kohima, Bhavani Seo N IAS announced the best teams of VAC where 9 Kohima town team (Lower PWD colony) was awarded first position, followed by 10 Northern Angami-I and 15 Southern Angami-II as runners up.
During the DPDB meeting, Nagaland State Biodiversity Board, Chairman made presentation on the departmental activities and highlighted the status on implementation of Biological Diversity Act 2002 and Rules 2004 in Nagaland. He said that the three main goals of the Act were- conservation of bio-diversity, sustainable use of bio-diversity, fair and equitable sharing of the benefit generated from use of genetic resources.
PHED Urban in their presentation mentioned that under Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM), 479 households have been covered, supplying five lakh litre of water per day at Kohima Science College Area. The department informed that by 2021, water supply will reach Phesama, Chede model village, Jotsoma village, Chedema village and Kohima village.
The chair of the meeting, DC Kohima, Gregory Thejawelie urged the department to complete their works in time without any compromises and to ensure safe and clean drinking water to the citizens.
The house also discussed and set up a new VAC for 2021-22 and Aspirational Block Committee Members for 2021-26.
Advisor, Urban Development and Municipal Affairs, Dr Nicky Kire and Advisor, Youth Resources and Sports and Chairman DPDB Zale Neikha also attended and participated in the programme.
