Kohima youths issue decree against GPRN/NSCN

Dimapur, August 12 (MExN): Kohima youth organizations today directed all citizens, business community, contractors and suppliers “not to entertain the GPRN/NSCN (Khole-Kitovi) in any form.”

The capital’s youth groups under the aegis of the Angami Youth Organization (AYO) convened an emergency meeting on August 11 in Kohima to discuss what it called the undergrounds’ “direct insult” to the people, a reference to the recent factional killings between the warring underground groups.

A press release issued by the AYO today said that the meeting “vehemently condemned the factional clash in public inhabited area (New market, Kohima) in which 3 cadres belonging to NSCN/GPRN (K) were shot dead on 3rd August, 2012.” The capital’s youth have decided to launch “non-cooperation movement” against the GPRN/NSCN.

“Such killing is a direct insult to all the peace loving citizens of Kohima in particular and the Nagas in general at a crucial juncture when Naga leaders were busy in bringing a long lasting solution,” the AYO stated.

“Time and again the youth organizations have been appealing to all the groups to shun violence and bloodshed. On 21st March 2012 a resolution was adopted by the various colony youths of Kohima under the aegis of the Angami Youth Organization (AYO)   that reads ‘if any factional clash occurs or an attempt to disrupt the peaceful environment in the town is made, the youth will jointly take its own course of action.’

Standing firm to its resolution, the Angami Youth Organization stated, the youths have decided to launch “non-cooperation against GPRN/NSCN (Khole-Kitovi) until and unless they come out with a public apology and give justification for their act which was carried out in a civilian populated area.”

The youth organization has also asked the business community, contractors and suppliers, transporters, and all peace loving citizens of Kohima not to entertain the GPRN/NSCN (Khole-Kitovi) in any form.

“Anyone intentionally trying to violate the appeal may invite public wrath. The AYO also appeal to all the colony youths of Kohima to maintain status-quo.”

It may be recalled that in previous times, AYO had also applied the same yardstick to the FGN Government for violating the resolution on April 7th, 2012, the AYO added.
