Konyak Baptist Church Association mourns loss of 14 baptized members

Directs all churches under KBBB to conduct candle light service on December 13

Mon, December 9 (MExN): The Konyak Baptist Bumeinok Bangjüm (Konyak Baptist Church Association) on Thursday condemned the barbaric killings of the innocent civilians on December 4 and 5 subsequently. 

KBBB Executive Secretary, Rev M Chemyuh Konyak in a press release said, “At this advent season, as we long to celebrate the birth of the Prince of Peace, the irony of the present state of affairs is contrary to what we wish as Christians to spend Christmas season. As many as fourteen Konyak boys were murdered cold bloodedly and left many seriously injured. We are deeply hurt by the incident that took the lives of our fourteen baptized members of KBBB.”

 “We fervently pray for God’s comfort upon the bereaved families at this time of mourning,” it conveyed. 

The KBBB has acknowledged the prayers and condolence messages that came from Christian fraternity across the globe. “Your prayers and wishes are conspicuous source of consolation in this time of our mourning. As always, our shared commitment to serve the people in desperate remains unwavering, we shall continue to pray for the prevalence of peace and tranquility in this region of North East India,” it said. 

The KBBB also expressed gratitude to Deputy Commissioner, Superintendant of Police and all the administrators under Mon District headquarters for the resolute endeavours shown for the success of the funeral programme. The DGP and all rank and files under Nagaland Police department have displayed incessant efforts that have maintained law and order situation. “We trust that our state law enforcement agency will continue to pursue the matter so as to ascertain the unfabricated details, and deliver justice to the families of the victims soon,” it affirmed.  

Meanwhile, KBBB annual meet which is scheduled from December 10 to 12 has been postponed. The assembly of this year’s KBBB annual meet, in consequence, will dramatically be differed from the conventional gathering, it informed. 

Also all the churches under KBBB are directed to conduct a candle light service in honour of the fourteen departed souls at 6:00 PM on December 13.
