Konyak civil society demands stop to ILP

Dimapur, October 8 (MExN): Seriously considering the influx of illegal immigrants into Mon district, Konyak civil society has decided to review all ILP (Inner Line Permit) holders in the entire district. It was also ‘decided’ that the district administration should stop issuing any fresh ILP.

Konyak Students’ Union, Konyak Union, Konyak Nyupuh Sheko Khong and Mon Town Council met on October 2 to deliberate over the ILP issue and influx of illegal immigrants into the district. Following a prolonged deliberation, several decisions were taken, KSU’s general secretary T Khongjah Loung informed.

The house put to resolution that ILP shall be renewed basing on the Konyak students earlier representation submitted to the deputy commissioner of Mon. ILP holders are directed to produce, submit all relevant documents on or before December 1, 2007, to the concern authority and the KSU. The documents that are to be produced are Permanent residence certificate, Immovable Properties Certificate belonging to father or forefather and electoral card (Voting Card) of father. Failure to produce the stipulated documents with the ILP would mean the person in concern “will be liable to leave Mon district.”

The Konyak civil society also ‘decided’ that the district’s administration should stop issuing fresh ILPs.  An annual joint sitting on the ILP matter would be held, it was decided. All ILP holders are directed to comply with the decisions and resolutions taken. Failure to abide by, “they will not be entertained to obtain ILP within Mon district.”
