Konyak Students’ Union remembers victims and denounces ‘March 18, 2005 atrocities’

Mon, March 18 (MExN): On its 19th anniversary, the Konyak Students' Union (KSU) has condemned what it termed as the “cold-blooded murder” of late H Panglem Konyak and late C Chahtai Konyak of Totok Chingnyu village on March 18, 2005.
The duo was killed during a peace rally organised by the Konyak Union on March 18 to protest against the clash between the NSCN (IM) and the NSCN (K) at Leangha Village, the union stated in a press release.

"It has been 19 years since the two innocent students were kidnapped, tortured, and mercilessly slain by the NSCN(IM) who, in response to the call of the Konyak Union, stood in protest against the infighting within the brothers," it maintained. However, the memory of the atrocities committed against the faultless souls is still vivid and fresh in the minds of the people, it added.

The press release from KSU President T Noklem Konyak and General Secretary A Pangnan further noted that there is no point in the history of human struggle for freedom where the goal is achieved by such an act of brutality against its own people.

Thus, the KSU, while praying for the departed souls for eternal peace, also condemned any such act of wickedness and factional killings among the Naga brothers then, now, and even in the future in its strongest term, it added.
