DIMAPUR, JUNE 11 (MExN): The Khiamniungan Sports Council (KSC) marked its 10th Foundation Day-cum-Executive Session on June 11 at the residence of the KSC Treasurer, where outstanding athletes and coaches from Noklak district were felicitated for their achievements in various sports disciplines.
In his presidential address, KSC President T Musho Lam acknowledged the district’s sporting potential, stating that athletes from Noklak have earned recognition at the state level despite limited sports infrastructure. He noted that the district remains at a foundational stage in sports development compared to many other districts and stressed the need to improve facilities and standards.
Lam also underscored the importance of encouraging sports among the younger generation while maintaining a balance between sports and education. He expressed appreciation to the federating units of various sports disciplines for their efforts in nurturing young athletes across the district.
As part of the programme, five individuals were felicitated for their achievements in sports and coaching.
Tsutsoi T, popularly known as the “Golden Girl of Noklak,” was honoured for winning a bronze medal in the 5000-metre race at the 1st Khelo India Tribal Games held in Jagdalpur, Chhattisgarh, from March 30 to April 3, 2026.
Khunou P was felicitated for securing a gold medal in the Cadet Category Kyorugi Championship organised by the All Meghalaya Taekwondo Association at the Laban Sports Club Indoor Sports Complex, Shillong, from May 15 to 17, 2026.
Yamchan was honoured for attaining the All India Football Federation AFC ‘C’ Diploma during the Coaching Convention held at Indira Gandhi Stadium, Kohima, from May 6 to 16, 2024.
C Tongjen Thai and P Mulai were felicitated for successfully completing the Athletics Federation of India Pre-Level 1 Coaches Course conducted between September 3 and October 2, 2024.
A special prayer for the achievers and the Council was offered by A Penglang, Pastor of NTBC. The programme was chaired by PL Shingnya, Executive Chairman of KSC, while the invocation was delivered by Langa, Deacon, NTBC.
The event concluded with a renewed commitment from the Council and its affiliated units to strengthen sports development and create greater opportunities for aspiring athletes in Noklak district.
