KSCDL gets creative with 'Streets for People Challenge'

The Kohima Smart City Development Limited (KSCDL) organised an impromptu street friendly activities here at Raj Bhavan area on October 22.

This is part of the Open Street Campaign under 'Streets for People Challenge' launched by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs to encourage cities to re-imagine their streets and creating walking friendly streets through quick measures in response to COVID 19.

The Open Street Campaign is an initiative to reach out to citizens and create awareness on the importance of having safe street spaces for healthy activities like walking, cycling, jogging and also for seating, relaxing and creating safe and happy spaces for all ages.

The challenge is aimed at creating such spaces both in high footfall areas like market places and also in neighbourhoods.

KSCDL is in the process of holding consultations with different stakeholders to chalk out a practical and workable action plan.

The Open Street Campaign included 500m running race for men, women and children which was flagged off by Avelu Ruho, joint CEO, KSCDL.

Many also joined pushups event in 30 seconds for men and children. 

This is the first Open Street Campaign and more events will be organised around the city in the coming weeks for all ages and all citizens, according to KSCDL.
