Phek, December 12 (MExN): Knowledge Systems & Homestead Agriculture Management in Tribal Areas (KSHAMTA) special programme to be initiated through the KVK was launched December 9 at Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK)-Phek.
The welcome address was delivered by Senior Scientist & Head I/C, KVK Phek.
In the technical session, Dr Hannah K Asangla informed the participants about concept and objectives of the programme. Further she elaborated on the Indigenous Technical Knowledge (ITK) and their scientific application for sustainable agriculture. She also deliberated a lecture on importance of nutri-cereals for health and wellbeing.
Dr T Esther Longkumer, CTO (Soil Science), KVK-Phek emphasised on importance of the use of organic inputs to enhance crop production in the district. She also informed the gathering on the New Farm Bill Act 2020.
Dr Debojyoti Borkotoky, ACTO (Animal Sc) presented on integrated farming system for remunerative agricultural practices. A scientist-farmers interaction was conducted wherein the farmers shared their problems and prospects in Agriculture and Allied areas.
The guest of the programme, Thepusa Nakro highlighted the participating farmers about the ongoing government programmes and schemes in agriculture. He emphasised on ‘learn and grow’ and utilized the technical expertise of the KVK-Phek. Attending to farmers query, Nezulu Nyekha, Executive Director, CWWS Pfutsero informed the farmers on post harvest management of their produce and market linkage.
The programme concluded with words of appreciation by Imsenaro Longchar, KVK-Phek.
