Dimapur, September 3 (MExN): The Konyak Students’ Union today appealed the Department of School Education to retain the post graduate teachers in Mon District, affected by the recent redeployment policy of the Department. Expressing resentment over the introduction of redeployment policy in the middle of academic session, the KSU in a press release said that its implementation has adversely affected and victimized the students’ community of the district.
The release, issued by KSU president Bumang Phaiba and education secretary Abo Wangsu also pointed that “transfered with post and transferred without replacement” were common practices in Mon district.
While the concerned institutions affected by the policy have been facing the shortage of subject teachers, the launching of this policy without deploying a single teacher from other districts has aggravated the situation, it added. In this connection, the union requested the concerned department to exempt Mon district from the recent redeployment policy unless new replacements are immediately appointed.
Redeploying or transferring of teachers outside the district is against the interest of the students, it said, further urging the department to “withhold and retain the same.” “Else the Union shall not allow the department to entertain such policy within the district," the KSU added.
