KSU land encroachment issue: ANCSU allege apathy by Kohima district administration

DIMAPUR, MARCH 30 (MExN): The All Nagaland College Students’ Union (ANCSU) has expressed serious concern over what it termed as the lackadaisical attitude of the Kohima district administration towards the settlement of Kohima Science College Autonomous, Jotsoma land encroachment issue.

A press release issued by ANCSU president Katho P Awomi and general secretary Vimeyiekho Vitso on Saturday reminded that the Union has been continuously appealing the state government to take necessary action on the decade long land issue of KSU, Jotsoma. The Union stated that after much appeal, the state government on October 24, 2018 had directed the district administration to initiate identification and removal of illegal encroachment while acting on an RTI reply from the Chief Minister’s Office.  Despite the directive given, the district administration has miserably failed to acknowledge the directive from the CMO and understand the gravity of the issue, the Union alleged.

It also stated that this back handed commitment of the district administration has encouraged some private parties to openly undertake concrete constructions inside the college campus.  The Union, while questioning the sincerity of the district administration, has cautioned that in the event of any further encroachment or jeopardizing the future of the students’ community through this land issue, the district administration would be held accountable.

The ANCSU also asked the state government to take serious note of the insincerity exhibited by the district administration.
