DIMAPUR, AUGUST 1 (MExN): The Konyak Union (KU) has urged the Nagaland State Government to prioritize the development of the District Hospital Mon (DHM) infrastructure and increase of man power keeping in mind that the hospital is situated at a very strategic location bordering two Indian states of Assam & Arunachal; two Nagaland districts of Tuensang and Longleng and Myanmar in the east.
In a press release, KU president Manlip Konyak and general secretary Honang Konyak has suggested the state government and the health department that the sanctioned amount of Rs 1 crore which was exclusively earmarked under Special State Plan for procurement of equipment for DHM should be duly executed with proper & thorough consultation with the Hospital Management Committee (HMC).
In tune with the Indian health standard norms of “No operation without ICU,” the KU has requested for immediate installation of Intensive Care Unit (ICU) service at DHM so as to provide justice to health and life.
While expressing gratitude on the up-gradation of the DHM to a 100 bedded hospital, the KU said the health department should ensure that the completed nursing school and hostel building should be accordingly manned with requisite and sufficient tutors and students.
With the DHM sustaining with only eight doctors at present, the KU pointed out that with the upgradation of the DHM, at least 22 doctors should be stationed at DHM for smooth delivery of health services. It also stated that the 100 bedded DHM require 60 nurses to manage the hospital.
Further, the KU has appealed for absorption of 14 casual workers who were appointed during MSF period and further sanctioning of 20 more additional posts of casual workers.
