A new community hall-cum-amenity centre, constructed under the LADP Iconic Project 2025–26 at an estimated cost of Rs. 1,87,42,000, was inaugurated at Kumlong Ward on Friday by Minister for Rural Development and SIRD, Government of Nagaland, Metsübo Jamir.
The facility has been built on the site of the former youth hall and the Department of Health and Family Welfare sub-centre. It includes four rooms for the sub-centre, a community hall measuring 35 ft by 84 ft internally, parking space and other amenities. The building measures 45 ft by 104 ft externally and stands 90 ft high.
According to Construction Committee member C Tia Longkümer, work on the project began in January 2025. The building was designed by architect A Alem Jamir.
In his speech, Minister Metsübo Jamir said that he entered electoral politics in 2018 with the intention of doing meaningful work for future generations. He said that development initiatives, including quality roads and public infrastructure, are not undertaken for personal recognition but for the welfare and benefit of children and the wider community.
He expressed gratitude to the people of the constituency, which comprises five wards, for electing him for two consecutive terms. He said he had extended assistance wherever possible and hoped to continue receiving the people’s support and blessings.
The Minister further noted that development in a ward benefits not only its residents but also all those who pass through it. Good roads and facilities, he said, are a source of pride for the community. He urged residents to ensure that development works are carried out to the highest possible standard and sought everyone’s participation in upcoming projects.
The dedicatory prayer was pronounced by Pastor Kiküm Longkümer of KBC. Imtitoshi Jamir, Chairman of Kumlong Ward, delivered the welcome address and Councillor Satemkala of Mokokchung Municipal Council also delivered a short address.
