Dimapur, August 6 (MExN): The Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Dimapur condcuted a 60-hour skill development training programme under the theme “Livestock Production and Management” for students from the Unity College, Dimapur, on July 22.
The training, directed by Dr Ebibeni Ngullie, CTO (Chief Technical Officer) Animal Science, aimed at enhancing the knowledge and practical skills of students in various aspects of livestock management.
On the inaugural day, Dr Phool Kumari, Senior Scientist and Head, KVK Dimapur, welcomed the participants and highlighted the pivotal role of KVK in promoting agricultural education and innovation.
According to a KVK Dimapur release, the training included both lectures and practical demonstrations.
The sessions on Basic Agronomic Practices were led by Dr Bendangla Imsong, CTO Plant Breeding.
Dr Moanaro, Programme Assistant, presented on Integrated Pest and Disease Management of Maize, while Dr Chingakham Sima Chanu focused on value-added products of Maize.
Meanwhile, Dr Ngullie conducted detailed sessions on Rabbitry, Poultry, and Dairy Production and Management, while entrepreneurial skills for excellence were explored by Marneni Divya Sree, SMS (Subject Matter Specialist) Agricultural Extension.
The importance of integrated farming systems for sustainable agriculture was covered by Imiliakum Pongen, while a special session on Piggery Production and Management, with an emphasis on artificial insemination techniques, was conducted by Dr Ngullie, Dr Atokali Sumi, and Dr Veikho Apanaicelina.
A total of twelve students, including eight male and four female, were trained in the skill development training programme.
