Zunheboto, October 15 (MExN): Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Nagaland University celebrated Mahila Kisan Diwas at Zaphumi village under Akuluto block of Zunheboto district on October 15.
Sr Scientist and Head KVK, Zunheboto, Dr Rakesh Kumar Chaurasia welcome the participants and gave an insight on the importance of the Mahila Kisan Diwas. A press note from KVK, Nagaland University stated that the programme was conducted with the aim of creating awareness about the important role played by women in agriculture.
The participants were engaged in group discussion on the topic ‘Role of women in agriculture and allied activities.’
During the interaction session, Dr Rakesh Kumar Chaurasia and Wapangtoshi Longkumer,Asst. Chief Technical Officer, Plant Protection discussed on the problems faced by women farmers in agriculture and allied activities and suggested the remedial measures. Farmers were encouraged to go for mushroom production, vermicomposting and cash crops to increase their income.
The Chairman, GB, Women SHG members and other women farmers of the village participated in the programme and were provided with field pea seeds.
