PEREN, DECEMBER 14 (MExN): The KVK Peren, ICAR-RC for NEH Region, Nagaland Centre, Jalukie organized a Capacity Building for Adoption of Technology (CAT) Interstate Exposure Visit from December 7 to 10.  

The Exposure programme led by Dr L Babita Devi, CTO (Animal Science), KVK Peren, to ICAR RC for NEH Region, Umiam, Meghalaya; ICAR NRC on Pig, Guwahati and College of Veterinary Sciences, AAU, Khanapara, Guwahati was funded by NABARD, Dimapur. 

The aim of the programme was to enable the participants from different places to interact with each other, witness and learn by seeing the scientific technologies and farming models related to agriculture, Animal husbandry and fisheries that has been developed and practiced by different research institutes, stated a press release issued by Dr KL Meena, PS & Head,  KVK Peren.

At ICAR RC for NEH Region, Umiam, Meghalaya, Dr. Gautam Khargoria, CTO (Animal Science); Dr. Pallav Borah; Dr. N. Raju Singh, Scientist (Agroforestry); Dr. Jiten, Scientist (Agri Engineering) and Er. Hillary led the farmers and demonstrated in details on Piggery, Poultry, Goatery as well as Rabbitary units, different agro forestry components and its importance, various agricultural farm tools and implements designed and developed for different farm activities and for post harvesting. The visit at ICAR Umiam was coordinated by Shri. Swaroop Sharma, CTO (DTAC).

At ICAR-NRC on Pig, Dr. Keshab Barman (Principal Scientist); Dr. Rafiqul Islam (Principal Scientist); Dr. Seema R. Pegu (Senior Scientist) and Dr. Sunil Kumar (Scientist) interacted with the participants and  explained in detail about the different activities and work undertaken by the institute. The participants were also trained on various Topics like, Scientific Pig feeding and ration formulation, Care of breeding boars and gilt, heat detection, natural service and AI in pigs and Bio security measures and Health management in scientific pig production.  A video on activities of ICAR- NRC on Pig was also shown to the participants.

It further stated that during the visit to Instructional Livestock Farm (Cattle) at CVSc, AAU, Khanapara, Guwahati, Dr, Lakhya Jyoti Bora and Gautam Kalita explained and showed various activities at Cattle farm as well as various demonstration models like Hydroponic fodder unit, Azolla Unit as well as Vermicomposting units maintained in the college. 

Farmers interaction, group discussion meeting and interaction programme with the experts were also done, it added. Altogether, 20 farmers from Jalukie, Deukwaram, Punglwa B, Gailli Namdi, B Jalukie, Mhainamtsi, Gailli, Poilwa, Athibung, Jalukieram and Old Tesen villages of Peren district participated in the exposure tour.
