PEREN, SEPTEMBER 27 (MExN): KVK Peren conducted two-day training and awareness programme on nutri-rich vegetable cultivation for Self Help Group farmers under Nutri sensitive Agriculture Research and Innovation (NARI) at Samziuram and Heningkunglwa villages on September 25 and 26 respectively in the central farm of combined SHGs members.
During the programme at Samzuiram, Dr LK Meena, Principal Scientist & Head, encouraged vegetable cultivation and balanced food in daily diet. Dr L Babita Devi, CTO Animal Science spoke about the nutritional value of vegetables. Dr Akshay Ujjwal, SMS Agronomy promoted SHG members to have Nutri food. Dr Prashant Kalal SMS-Fruit Science, coordinator of the programme, gave demonstrations to farmers related to nursery practices like media preparation, sowing, watering, and cultivation of different vegetables. Twenty farmers participated and benefited from many vegetable seeds and tools.
In Heningkunglwa, Dr Patu K Zeliang, ACTO Plant Breeding & Genetics, spoke on the theme of the NARI project and how farmers can work hand in hand with the KVK office for timely technical help and support along with cultivation practices of important rabi vegetable crops.
Dr Prashant Kalal, SMS Fruit Science, Coordinator of the Programme, gave practical demonstration on nursery raising of cabbage and cauliflower seedlings and seed treatment. Twenty-one farmers attended the programme at Heningkunglwa.
The vegetable seeds (cabbage, cauliflower, carrot, French bean, coriander, radish, bottle gourd, palak), tools, cocopeat, pro trays, and organic plant micronutrient specials were distributed to the different SHG members at both the villages.
