Kohima, July 31 (MExN): The office of the Labour Commissioner, Nagaland, has issued a second public notification warning eight registered trade unions found to be defaulting or non-functional that they are liable for deregistration under the Trade Unions Act, 1926.
The unions named are the Dimapur Motor Workers Trade Union, Dimapur Auto Rickshaw Owners Union, Dimapur Land Transport Workers Union, East Dimapur Purana Bazar Labour Trade Union, Dimapur Taxi Drivers Union, Dimapur Cycle Rickshaw Pullers Union, Dimapur Truck Drivers Union and Kohima District Land Transport Trade Union, Phesama.
The notification stated that after the expiry of the initial 30-day notice, the unions have been given a further 15 days to submit formal intimation to the Registrar of Trade Unions if they intend to resume their activities and avoid cancellation.
It warned that failure to respond within the stipulated period would result in "the initiation of necessary proceeding for cancellation of registration as per relevant provisions of the Trade Unions Acts and Rules."
