Dimapur, August 23 (MExN): In a one of its kind sporting event, the female members of local church fellowship in Dimapur enjoyed a special ‘sporting day out’ on August 22, courtesy of their male counterparts.
The special day called ‘Kongrular Saisapong Mong’ roughly translated as ‘Ladies Sports Day,’ was organised by the Dimapur Baptist Church Youth Ministry (DABAYM), Duncan Fellowship at Don Bosco Higher Secondary School complex.
Over 120 people participated at the day-long event.
A member of the fellowship informed the idea of the event was allow the ladies a special day where they can display and hone their sporting skills and prepare them for the upcoming DABAYM ‘Olympic.’
Initiated by the male members, the day featured several sporting events such as volley ball, basketball, javelin throw, shot-put, long jump, 100 meter & 400 meter relay races and arm wrestling.
Accordingly, all the related activities related to the event – from officiating to refreshment, from volunteering to catering – were managed by the male members.
‘They (the ladies) were told either to participate in the various games or to come witness the events in relaxed manner,’ the member said.
There were enthusiastic participations and we are satisfied with the outcome of the event, he added.
