Kohima | October 20 : The Lamkang Students’ Union, Tangkhul Students’ Union and Excel United today registered win in their respective pre-quarters match and qualified for quarter finals of the ongoing 12th NSF Martyrs Memorial Trophy 2011 here at the Kohima Local Ground.
Lamkang Students’ Union defeated Pholami Youth Organization, Phek 3-2 in the first match of the day. Beduta Getsa opened the account for Pholami Youth Organization, Phek in the 28th minutes and the equalizer goal for Lamkang Students’ Union came through Thangtinlen in the 35th minute.
Beduyi Sekhamo increased the score tally of Pholami Youth Organization in the 46th minute while Thangtinlen’s contributed another goal for Lamkang Students’ Union in the 56th minute.
The winning goal for Lamkang Students’ Union came through Gandhi in the 61st minute.
Tangkhul Students’ Union defeated Life Sports B by a solidary goal in the second match of the day. Athui netted a goal for Tangkhul SU in the 28th minute.
Tangkhul Students’ Union will now clash with Lamkang Students’ Union in the quarter finals on October 24.
In the last match of the day, Excel United defeated New Market XI 3-1 through a tie-breaker. The match witnessed scoreless draw within the stipulated time.
With today’s win, Excel United will meet Life Sports FC in quarter finals on October 22.
Meanwhile, Wenye Konyak, SDO (Sadar) Kohima will be the match patron of the Ist Quarter finals on October 21.
