A massive mudslide has destroyed a large stretch of paddy fields below National Highway- 29 at Mesulumi Village in Phek district on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, in view of the occurrence of a major landslide/mudslide at Chainage: 78+000 & 79+836 under Package-IV of NH-29, Kohima-Jessami Road under Mesulumi Village, all vehicular movement along the said stretch of NH-29 have been suspended for road clearance and in the interest of public safety.
In traffic advisory, Phek Deputy Commissioner Rhosietho Nguori stated that during the period of restriction, commuters have been advised to use the alternate route.
For Heavy Motor Vehicle and Light Motor Vehicle: Pfutsero Town-Porba-Sakraba-Middle Khomi-Phek Village-Lanezho road and vice versa.
Light Motor Vehicle: Pfutsero Town- Tsupfume-Thetsumi-Chizami road and vice versa.
DC directed the construction company, Keystone Infra Pvt. Ltd to ensure that all road clearance works are completed at the earliest.
This advisory shall remain in force until further notice, DC stated.
Meanwhile, multiple landslides occurred along Phek- Pfutsero road and it was later cleared for traffic movement.
