
NSDMA asks officials to issue high alert
DIMAPUR, JULY 30 (MExN): Incessant rainfall led to a landslide today between Kezoma and Kikruma, resulting in the formation of an artificial dam on the Sidzü River due to which there is an imminent threat to the habitations downstream.
EAC Kezocha, Er Seyiekhrietuo Solo in a notice advised the public not to venture near the location as the breaking of this artificial dam may lead to the washing away of the bridge on the Kezoma-Phek highway as well as the terrace fields and any houses that may be located below the said dam forming at the moment.
The Kezoma Village Council and Gaonburas have also been directed to issue warnings to strictly prohibit the villagers from venturing into that area as well and vacate any residents.
Meanwhile, the NSDMA also issued an advisory to the Deputy Commissioners and DDMA Chairpersons of Kohima, Phek, Wokha, Mokokchung and Zunheboto.
The NSDMA asked the concerned officials to issue high alert to residents of Sidzü/Doyang River and farmers, vehicular passengers to avoid the river banks downstream of the Pfutsero-Chakabama road.
They have also been directed to mobilize and deploy the State Disaster Response Force and other available resources for responding to the given situation as well as if there are any eventualities.
The NSDMA informed that the DDMA Phek has taken action and that evacuation has started in parts of Tuensang.
