The Lower Agri Youth Organization (LAYO) Kohima celebrated its silver jubilee under the theme ‘Youth with Integrity’ at Penta Point, Lower Agri, Kohima on June 1.
Gracing the occasion as the special guest, Dr Neikiesalie (Nicky) Kire, Advisor Urban Development And Municipal Affairs challenged the LAYO to focus on propagating the essence of cleanliness in the society.
Urging the people to contribute for a clean city, he said “Let us start learning to live in a moderate way.” He also stressed on the need to do away with the lifestyle of living a high standard and have low regards for manual work. “We think we are too high. Let us do our work with sincerity. Don't not be ashamed of doing small jobs with clean heart,” Dr Kire said.
‘Youth with integrity’
Talking on the theme “Youth with Integrity,” Dr. G. Thong, Professor, Nagaland University stressed on the need to promote integrity which in turn will create harmony in the society.
With integrity, clean election is possible. With clean election we can expect a just politics, he maintained.
Stating that the youth have a bigger role to play today to build a resilient society, he said “Youth must seek accountability to strengthen the institution and rule of law. You have to be the drivers of change.”
He said that youth have to live with high standards of integrity. He said that person with integrity are trusted by one and all as “they do not compromise on their ideals and ethics and society believes in them.”
Act of blessings was pronounced by GB Tsenchamo Khuvung while Lower Agri Ward Council chairman Neitho Kense delivered short speech.
Rev Dr Vevo Phesao, senior pastor Chakhesang Baptist Church, Minister’s Hill Kohima pronounced dedicatory prayer. Atuo Kapfo, convenor Jubilee Planning & Organizing Committee delivered welcome address while LAYO president Abel Assumi delivered presidential address.
Jubilee Report was given by Johny Rengma, general secretary, Jubilee Planning & Organizing Committee.Jubilee blessing was pronounced by Lepzuk Imsong, Associate Pastor, Naya Jeevan Baptist Church, Kohima. Narola Dangti chaired the programme.
The celebration also witnessed special numbers from De Operettas Music Institute Kohima, Obed Kath of Divine Connection, acknowledgement of senior citizens and concluded with jubilee feast.
