Leaders are chosen and not dictated

(Precisely to the present MLAs)

Chuwasie Nyuwi

Leaders are either chosen or elected because they are either trained or born to lead. People see them as efficient to lead the society, thus, he/she is elected/chosen by the people. People chose a leader with one purpose and that is to lead them to a higher height of excellence for a holistic life/society. In a Christian state like ours, the models of a good leader can be best referred from the life of Jesus Christ.

A person becoming a leader by force is a dictator and not a leader. How could one become a leader when people do not like him/her or if he/she is not efficient for the society? How could a person buy himself/herself leadership or position?? Oh! But sadly it happens here in Nagaland, a Christian state. Sadly, today, many Naga leaders are not a chosen leader but a dictated leader, either bought or taken by force. Oh! You (politicians) who are greedy for position and power should first be willing to serve the people and the society and ready to be a servant. Every aspirant politician should know that positions or leadership are to be chosen/ elected and not to be bought. How could you become a leader or force yourselves to be a leader when people do not need or like you anymore??

Dear Leaders of Nagaland (Politicians), are you a chosen leader or a dictated leader?? Buying oneself leadership is perhaps the most shameful act in a civilized world. Today, many of our leaders have lost the purpose of their position and power. The best example can be the present government who has lost the total sense of shame and responsibility. The present government has become a government for their profit or benefit alone and not for the people. How can a corrupted and a negative minded person lead a society that is thirty for a progressive society??

We proclaim and profess Christ is the truth and the only way yet many leaders of other faiths have outclassed our Christian leaders. Today, politics has controlled the people rather than people controlling the politics and that is where all the uncalled changes have taken place. If people want peace and development they should start asking God who should be the leader rather than looking whose party/politician would give more profit and money.

Can Christians in Nagaland seek the wisdom of God and chose our own leaders and not sell our rights?? God has given humanity the gift of “choice”, election is one such good opportunity to use it wisely as God desires of us. It is time to prove to the world that Nagas are no more only Sunday Christians but act out that every day is a Holy day and a Christian day. As many Nagas have become good speakers and good critics, let us also act out our voices as we elect new leaders in the forth coming election. We have seen enough of potholes, corruption, exploitation, misuse of power, etc, etc, etc. time to show we walk the talk.

For the last few years, people have walked the street, fasted, protested, shouted, and did all kinds of acts against the government for their mismanagement, corruption, backdoor appointment, nepotism, dictator leadership, misuse of power, etc, etc. but nothing happen, no positive changes took place and it all went unnoticed because the leaders (politicians) were not chosen but they dictated the leadership, position and power so in reality people could do nothing. All complains and concerns of the people went unheard and in vain because we the people have sold our votes and rights, thus, making the politicians a dictator and not a leader.

Dear Naga Christians, many Naga politicians are gearing up once again to buy votes (that is our rights) and do all kinds of evil things to gain votes and in the light of all these things, are the so called Christians ready to sell it again? Or this time are you ready to say NO? In the next few years, are we going again in the streets and offices to protest and complain against the leaders we have chosen or bring a change during this election by chosen the right leader? If one is under the Lordship of Christ, than even in our decision makings and casting votes we must still be under the Lordship of Christ.

Can we take the pledge of a Clean Election that no one can influence us and buy us but we will pray and seek God’s wisdom and elect our own leaders? Our tomorrow is our responsibility today. We are what we are tomorrow because of what we are today. Nagas need a God fearing and a visionary person in a time such as this. Our vote today is our society tomorrow, let us pray, think and vote.
