Learning Japanese not Nagamese

Dimapur May 16 (MExN): In a follow-up to the much-hyped ‘Look East’ policy, the state of Nagaland will very soon have a language institute at Kohima offering exclusively courses on important South-East Asian languages like Chinese, Japanese, Korean and Thai to local students aspiring to build an Asia-centric career.

A recommendation towards that effect was made today by the Kohima District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) at its monthly meeting, chaired by Chairman Dr Shurhozelie, who is also Nagaland State Urban Planning Minister, held at the Jakhama Village Panchayat Hall.

The course would include a short course on English, naturally as well as local dialects like Ao Naga and Tenyidie etc. Shürhozelie  expressed optimism that on establishment of trade centers out of that effect, Nagaland would become the “gateway” of the ‘Look East policy.’
