
Kohima, May 30 (MExN): The Northern Angami Youth Organization (NAYO) today stated that “At these extraordinary trying times due to the deadly pestilence of COVID-19 knowing no boundaries or affiliations, race or creed, we are called to defend each and every human race setting aside all our differences and misconceptions.”
With the onset of this pandemic, many unsolicited outcomes and apprehensions have been witnessed and observed which is uncalled for, it stated.
NAYO president Roko Angami and general secretary Ruokuoneitso Kire stated that NAYO “firmly believes that we should collectively stand united in our fight against this deadly pestilence.”
Let us not succumb to unsolicited news and apprehensions doing its round in the social medias nor let us incite hatred or maliciously instigate people at this hour of trying times, it stated.
NAYO stated that the safety of the people “is our priority and NAYO is of the opinion that neither the Kohima Village Council (KVC) nor the other Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) who are voicing out their concerns are solely doing it so for the safety of our people and with good intentions for the protection of our state.”
NAYO made a sincere appeal to all citizens to understand the gravity of the situation and refrain ourselves from inciting unwanted statements creating divisions amongst the community, rather “let us take the positive insights which is solely meant for the welfare of the citizens of the state.”
NAYO stated that the state capital Kohima' being a cosmopolitan city accommodating diverse Naga tribes and people from other states belongs to all and “we believe it is the duty of every citizens of Kohima to give our unflinching support to the Government and the masses.”
With the quarantine centres of Kohima at saturated point we are once again called to extend our support and reaffirm ourselves to bring out logistics for the wellbeing and safety of our people, it stated.
NAYO also called upon all Naga brethrens of all districts to share equal responsibility in “our collective fight against these pandemic.”
NAYO also solicit the general public and tribal organizations not to jump into conclusions and make tribal issues at these challenging times rather “let us stand united in our fight against "COVID-19" and "ism" during these extraordinary trying times.”
With the state government giving its best in its fight against the deadly virus on a war footing, we duly acknowledge the Government of Nagaland and other NGOs for their tireless and unceasing endeavours, NAYO stated adding “The war against this deadly virus has just begun and we believe strict adherence to the norms set by the government and observance of strict lockdown in the state will eventually prove beneficial.”
NAYO also appealed all persons undergoing quarantine at various centres to strictly follow the rules and ethics set by the concerned authority and to maintain strict decorum lest the spread of this virus by the quarantine persons amongst themselves and the persons taking care of them will be another major issue which we can't afford to handle at this hour of crisis.
NAYO called upon all to understand the grave situation and realities “we are facing today and to extend your unequivocal cooperation in the fight against the unseen enemy and to stand collectively in our efforts to put an end to this crisis.”
