
Dimapur, November 16 (MExN): The Confederation of Nagaland Chambers of Commerce and Industry (CNCCI) on Tuesday welcomed the positive response of the Government of Nagaland to table the SARFAESI Act in the winter assembly session.
The implementation of SARFAESI Act- an Act of parliament has been pending in Nagaland for almost last two decades which “is likely to see its fruition in upcoming Assembly,” stated a press release issued by CNCCI Chairman Dr Khekugha Muru and General Secretary Dr Seyievilie Mor.
The CNCCI has appealed all the legislators and political parties across to support the implementation of this Act as implementation of this Act in Nagaland will “usher into enormous changes in the lives of the Naga entrepreneurs, business community and economy of the state.”
It may be noted that the CNCCI has demanded implementation for last three years and has written several letters to the Chief Minister and Chief Secretary, Government of Nagaland and has even imposed one day Nagaland Business Shutter down on September 16 followed by submission of letters to Chief Secretary by all the 12 District Chamber of Commerce and Industry for immediate implementation of SARFAESI Act. In this connection, the Select Committee headed by CM Neiphiu Rio gave a public statement and assured that SARFAESI Act will be tabled in upcoming session.
CNCCI also stated that while respecting the valuable opinion and appreciating for taking active participation in the public debate by Nagaland Bar Association, it mentioned that tribal states like Meghalaya has successfully implemented the Act in tune with customary and land holding practices of the tribal inhabitants of the state. Consequently, the Nagaland State Government has also made it clear that the Act will be implemented in consonance with Article 371 (A). “Therefore, it appeals one and all to give the Act a chance to be implemented.”
The CNCCI appreciated CM Neiphiu Rio, Chairman of NLA Select Committee, Neiba Kronu, minister for Planning and Coordination, Land revenue and parliamentary affairs for taking keen initiatives and interest from day one the CNCCI approached him. Further it also appreciates Tonpang Ozukum, Minister PWD (Housing & Mechanical), TR Zeliang, Imkong Imchen, Chief Secretary and other members of the committee for the concern of the Naga people. It also thanked the Bankers Union of Nagaland for standing up to the occasion and giving support and agreeing to the terms put up by the NLA select committee.
