He however lamented the way Naga society is currently heading and said that there is complacency and an abnormal like situation. Looking at the present situation of society, Yhokha opined that the economy of the state was not improving; rather the government was ending up paying debts and running on deficit due to payment of salaries and pensions. As such, developments are effected due to lack of funds in the end, he said.

Pointing out that everything was linked to the economy he said that in order to rationalize the situation and reverse present trends, policy change was crucial. He said the reverse has to reach target populations like students, the elderly and developments in different spheres like roads, medical services etc.

Yhokha mentioned that one such trend reversal has been in the sector of barring departmental recruitments by introducing the Nagaland Staff Selection Board (NSSB). He further said that the Chief Minister’s Micro Financing Scheme to support youth was another opportunity to grab for aspiring educated entrepreneurs.

He meanwhile stated that Naga people need to stop blaming failures on tribal lines and aspirants need to look at meritocracy as the key for cracking examination.

The speaker for the academic sessions was Dr Kedovikho Yhoshü, Assistant Professor, Nagaland University, Lumami. He said that it is a perspective and idea to create change for society by grooming leaders. Yhoshu added that the Naga people need to start writing and documenting to promote aesthetic values of the environment. The speaker also called upon the present generation to be cautious and refrain from habits that destroy society.

During the programme, the theme for the Platinum Jubilee (75 years celebration), 2023, ‘Towards a Sustainable Future’ was also declared along with a nine point vision document for the jubilee.

The vision document called for addressing well being in a holistic way; adjusting in planetary boundaries; empowering individuals and communities; moving to a regenerative and collaborative economy; building competencies for a complex world; developing inclusive and adaptive robust society; doing more with less, doing better with less and elevating the common good.

The concept of the theme entails a march towards a Kigwema that is self reliant community- a multi dimensional idea that aims to bring about improvement in quality of human life covering social, economic, cultural, healthcare education, aesthetic, and environmental aspects of Kigwema Village.
