Lirmen-Mogroi village foster peace coordination

Dimapur, April 14 (MExN): An emergency meeting of the Lirmen Senso Mongdang (Lirmen Village Apex body) was held at Lirmen village community hall on April 13 from 9:00 am.

According to a press note received here among other things, as requested by the Mogroi villagers to grant them a plot of suitable land from the Lirmen Jhumland near the periphery for their community use i.e. performing of funeral rituals, collection of fire woods, bamboo etc for their day to day community use, the house thoroughly discussed the matter and consented the request in principle in order to foster a meaningful peace coordination and peaceful coexistence between the Assamese neighbour.

It is pertinent to mention here that on February 5, 2012 a portion of Jhum kheti belonging to Lirmen were burnt down by suspected miscreants from Mogroi village of Assam which led to uneasy situations in this border belt. To ease the situation, BPCC (A-N) organised a peace coordination meet on 16 February amongst the public of the border villagers of Assam and Nagaland thereby brought the situation to normalcy. The public of Mogroi village (Assam) requested its counterpart (Lirmen) to extend them a suitable plot of land for their community use. In the backdrop of such an environment, the LSM deemed it fit to comply its neighbour’s request on humanitarian ground and also for furthering peace and brotherhood amongst them. The house constituted a committee in today’s meet for liaison with the neighbour in order to transact the deal in an efficient manner.

A host of speakers from Lirmen Bendangli Senso Union (LBSU) emphasized on the need of accelerating development activities in and around the villages (Lirmen, Tsuremmen and Akumen). Since there is no direct road connectivity to Tsuremmen and Akumen from Nagaland side, the house felt it necessary that inter village road connectivity from Nagaland is a must looking at the strategic geographical location which shares a large stretch of border area with Assam. At any point of time, when the border situation turns uneasy and flare up occurs, these villages get the brunt most and therefore unanimously resolved to find a way out to get the connectivity road put in place at the earliest.

The golden jubilee of LSM will be celebrated next year and hence some frame programme was also chalked out besides assigning work distribution for the same.
