LMRSU serves ultimatum to contractor of road from Sanis Zero Point to Lakhuti

DIMAPUR, MAY 24 (MExN): The Lotha Middle Range Students’ Union (LMRSU) has served a seven days ultimatum to M/S Northeast Enterprise and the concerned contractors responsible for the delay and slow progress in the ongoing construction of an all weather road from Sanis Zero Point to Lakhuti village under PMGSY II (2019-2020).

A press release from the LMRSU stated that even after serving a representation on May 12, 2022, the registered company and the concerned contractors failed to respond and did not initiate any sort of communication since the date of submitting the representation.

It demanded that the contractor expedite the work in seven days and asked for a written assurance as to when the work will be resumed and completed. Failing this, the LMRSU said it would initiate its own course of legal action.

It may be noted that the LMRSU had submitted a representation to M/S Northeast Enterprise stating that the time frame for completion of the ongoing road construction from Sanis Zero Point to Lakhuti village is to be completed on or before March 20, 2022. However, it was learnt that six months period of extension was given to the company.

The LMRSU lamented that the work progress is at a very minimal snail pace, while stating that “nil satisfactory progress has been seen so far.” The monsoon season hampering continuous work and worsening the road condition is causing great inconveniences to the common public, it said.

In its earlier letter, the LMRSU mentioned that the concerned contractor on March 24, 2022 verbally assured the office to start the work progress within 15 days and will be completed in 45 working days using “foreign technology.” “Yet no progress has been made when the LMRSU officials physically inspected the ongoing road construction from Sanis Zero Point to Lakhuti Village,” the union said.

The LMRSU also appealed to the concerned department to timely intervene and initiate necessary action on the ongoing road construction at the earliest.
