Longleng DPDB meet discusses erratic power situation

Longleng, August 25 (DIPR): The Longleng District Planning & Development Board meeting for the month of August was held on August 23 in the Conference Hall of the Deputy Commissioner Longleng under the Chairmanship of S. Pangnyu Phom Parliamentary Secretary for RD & REPA and Chairman DPDB Longleng.
In connection to erratic power situation at Longleng District, the Board deliberated on the subject where the EE Power Changtongya informed that the power line for Longleng Division has been upgraded from 11 KVA line to 33 KVA line and also additional power line under centrally sponsored scheme are being introduced as such power supply has enhanced. He also informed the Board that irregular power supply in the district is due to load shedding in rotation manner at the main source and due to shortage of staff to manned the entire district. He also suggested that creation of SDO (E) post may certainly improve power supply in the district as the whole District power supply is being looked after by only one JE. Therefore the Board agreed to write to the Government for creation of SDO power post at Longleng. He however assured the House that the department would do its best to improve the power supply to the district. The E.E also informed that revenue collection is low in the district and requested the department for its improvement to which the Board also suggested and agreed for the payment of electricity bills through treasury challan to ensure proper payment.
The Board reiterated its decision taken in the meeting held on 11th December 2010 in regard to Conservation of forest under Longleng District and once again requested the Administration to supervise for conservation of respective village forest.
On Two-lane road under Longleng division, the E.E. R&B informed the House that this project is centrally sponsored scheme with objective to connect District Headquarter with proper road and the department is trying its best to keep the road pliable all season, supervision has been entrusted to Department of other District. In this context, the House entrusted the Deputy Commissioner to write/convey to the concern department to keep the project with the R&B Longleng Division under E.E. (R&B) like other districts.
For Tree plantation in Longleng District, the Chairman also informed the members that sapling would be distributed to the public for plantation under the supervision of the Administration. The Board also decided to give Award to those students who are studying in the Government schools and secured 1st Division in the HSLC Exam in order to encourage them.
Coming to the sanitation programme, the Board decided to organize social work every quarterly and a cash award will be given to the best colony/ward each year and for which DPDB will mobilize the funds. The Board also discussed over the proposal for repairing of DB Customary court at Longleng where the proposal could not be approved in view of fund constraint.
Earlier, at the request of the Chairman the Deputy Commissioner, K. Libanthung Lotha who recently took charge welcomed all the members present and also introduced some new members. The new members are Wati Aier, ADC Longleng; Manpai, SDO (C) Tamlu; EW Odyuo; EE Power special invitee. He also extended his congratulation to Rhosietho, SDO (Sadar), Manpai, SDO (C), Tamlu and CK Nihekhu Sema former DC Longleng for awarded Governor’s Commendation Certificate. The DC encouraged the members to take the posting in the Longleng District as a privilege and asked them to serve the people with sincerity and dedication. He also requested all the departments to properly display their office sign boards for easy locating. The chairman who welcomed the new members also congratulated those who got promotions and appreciated the good works rendered to the people by those who have already transferred from the district.
The board also reviewed the last DPDB meeting minute and discussed the following agendas: In regard to the approval of LADP schemes for the year 2011-12 submitted by the two elected members, the Board members thoroughly checked the schemes and discussed all the schemes both for general as well as for common pool and unanimously approved the schemes. The chairman also highlighted upon some silent features of the LADP programme and urged the implementation committee to properly supervise the scheme implementation. He cautioned that no payment should be made unless the work is properly done.
