LONGLENG, FEBRUARY 7 (MExN): The Longleng District Planning & Development Board (DPDB) meeting was held under the chairmanship of the Deputy Commissioner, M Shayung Phom at the DC's conference hall on February 6.
Various issues including the COVID-19 vaccination drive, border issues with Assam, and other infrastructure work issues were discussed during the meeting.
The Additional Superintendent of Police, Longleng apprised the members regarding a meeting held with the Assam counterpart at Sivasagar to maintain peaceful law and order in the border and for smooth conduct of forthcoming Assam election. He said that the meeting was fruitful and both sides agreed to extend full cooperation to each other for peace and tranquility in the border.
Principal JNV Tangha, Longleng, Mukul Talukdar briefed on the problems and grievances faced by the students and faculty of JNV due to scarcity of water. He informed the house that the JNV School is ready with all safety measures on Covid-19 for opening of the school and sought permission from the District Administration.
The SDO (R&B), Longleng highlighted the status of ongoing wooden bridge construction at Dikhu River by the villagers between Mongtikang and Salulamang. The DIO (NIC), Vinit Kumar enlightened the members on usefulness of information technology in the present age.
EAC, Longleng, Ihoilung informed on the registration and membership fees of the Officer's Club and the officers' meet likely to be held in the month of March.
The house also discussed and decided to assist the bridge construction at Dikhu with contribution and collection from the DPDB members. Members were requested to contribute their collections to Pichano, EAC HQ.
After the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner along with SDO and EAC Longleng visited the bridge construction site and handed over cash to the convenor of the Construction Committee on behalf of the DPDB, it was further informed.
The CMO Longleng, Dr Obangjungla meanwhile highlighted on the safety and efficacy of the Covid-19 vaccine and appealed the members to sensitise the people and make them understand to avail the vaccine provided by the Government.
She also informed that vaccine is given on a phased manner beginning with health care workers and frontline workers above 18 years of age after registration. For registration of beneficiaries to avail the vaccine, she said people should submit their name and their ID cards for online registration in the portal site. She further sought the cooperation and support of the members to enable the Medical Department to cater better service to the public.
