Longleng grappling ‘very high drug addict rate’

Yachem Students Union called to lead war against drug
 

Longleng, December 17 (MExN): Minister for Health and Family Welfare S Pangnyu Phom has advocated fighting against drugs in Longleng district during the 61st general session of Yachem Students Union held at Yachem village in Longleng district on December 17. 

The legislator reminded the student community that geographically and in population basis Longleng was very small but the district was grappling a very high drug addict rate. “It was time we launch a war against drug through this session and the Yachem Students Union should lead other this mission,” he persuaded. 

Phom lamented “we cannot afford to see our brothers becoming slave of drug. Do not ask what your society can do for you but ask what you can do for your society and church.”

At the event, the legislator encouraged the student community to preserve the Phom identity through the rich culture, tradition and custom while giving importance to one's mother tongue. 

Phom called on the student community to have a positive mindset with positive which will lead them to reach their goal. 

“If you want a successful life, set a secret agenda. We are living in a competitive world, so have a competitive spirit. We have high percentage of educated unemployed but less employment opportunities,” he exhorted while reminding them that Nagaland was facing employment scarcity and the young educated should not see government job as only mean to survive. 

Whatever the employment opportunities are available, avail them through competition and merit, he encouraged. 
“The world has become small with the coming of technology. Our life is being controlled and monitored by technology. But our technology has both negative and positive impact, we should understand its value and use it judiciously,” he concluded.
