Lotha Youth Organization reacts to DAYO statement

Dimapur, July 1 (MExN):  The Lotha Youth Organisation Dimapur (LYOD) has taken a strong exception to the statement made by the Dimapur Ao Youth organisation (DAYO) on June 28, where it alleged that the Lotha Hoho is resorting to tribalism.

Reacting to the statement, the LYOD has slammed DAYO for “not showing any respect and accusing the most respected apex body of the Lotha community.”

Terming the allegation ‘baseless’, the LYOD accused the DAYO of “hiding the truth and misguiding the Nagas in general.”

The Youth Organisation said that the Lotha Hoho in its statement clearly condemned the action of the Chief Minister, BJP president and BJP National general secretary and not any particular tribe or organization.

“The DAYO should understand that a leader of the State represents the Naga people in general and not just a particular tribe or community,” LYOD said.

Affirming ‘unflinching’ support to the delimitation process in Nagaland, LYOD reminded DAYO that delimitation process is not concerning to a particular tribe or district but, it is an exercise of a Constitutional obligation to ensure dispensation of justice, equality and proportionate representation in the government.

The endeavour of the Lothas is to implement the delimitation process and to redress the existing disparity and discrimination among the districts in regard to share of constituencies in order to bring about proportionate representation in the Nagaland Legislative Assembly, LYOD said.

LYOD reiterated that, the Lotha Hoho is not demanding the Delimitation exercise from any particular tribe or individual but, it stands committed to support the constituency delimitation in the State of Nagaland in order to ensure equal and fair representation in the government and policy making.

“The DAYO also should take into consideration the legitimate and constitutional rights of the neglected Tribe/section of the Nagas in as much as they have suffered/discriminated for the past many years,” it said.

DAYO being a Dimapur based organization should be more proactive in implementing the Delimitation process in Nagaland as it will greatly benefit the citizens of Dimapur with increase in number of assembly seats rather than accusing and putting vicious allegation on a respectable Apex body of the Lotha, the youth body further stated.
