The Longsa Youth Organisation (LYO) inducted its newly elected team at a programme held at the Longsa Village Community Hall on August 8, marking the commencement of its new tenure.
The programme was attended by Benri Ezung, Chairman of Longsa Government Employees’ Union as the special guest.
Addressing the gathering, the special guest highlighted trust, commitment and responsible leadership as essential qualities for the new team. He observed that trust is built over time through consistent effort and dedication but can be damaged by a single mistake. He therefore urged the newly elected members to carry out their responsibilities with sincerity, dedication and commitment.
Ezung also stressed the importance of coordination between the youth organisation and other village bodies. Describing the youth as a powerful force in society, he said they have an important role in questioning and redirecting authorities whenever necessary. However, he cautioned against excessive ambition and encouraged the youth to seek the guidance of elders and learn from their experience and wisdom.
Emphasising the need for a change in mindset, he said the younger generation cannot continue to approach issues with the mindset of decades ago. Ezung encouraged the youth to strive for improvement and adapt to the rapidly changing world.
The special guest also appreciated the LYO’s efforts to document and preserve the community’s heritage through its booklet, describing the role of young people as custodians of heritage as an important responsibility.
Speaking on the occasion, newly elected LYO President Y Limhathung Ezung expressed gratitude to the people for electing the new team and placing their confidence and trust in them. He assured the gathering that he would discharge his responsibilities with dignity and called for collective responsibility among the members, stressing the importance of standing together in facing challenges and situations.

Apango Ezung, assistant information and publicity secretary; Tsentosthung W Kikon, organising secretary; and Shandemo Humtsoe, assistant organising secretary.
