In a major breakthrough, Dimapur Police have arrested the alleged absconding driver involved in a hit-and-run case on the night of May 8 at the Purana Bazar road stretch.
This was confirmed by the PRO of Dimapur Police who revealed that the accused had been arrested on May 10 but did not provide any further details on the arrest made.
As per the police report, three youths were travelling in a scooty on the fateful night when they were knocked down by an unidentified vehicle. One of the victims, a 25-year-old resident of 6th Mile Chümoukedima later succumbed to his injuries while the other two victims sustained bodily injuries.
CCTV footage from one of the buildings nearby where the accident took place had shown that the vehicle which rammed the three victims was a white pick-up truck moving towards Purana Bazar.
“We will be providing a report on the arrest made tomorrow,” the PRO stated.
