KOHIMA, DECEMBER 11 (MExN): A major fire broke out at Lower Merhuleitsa Colony, Kohima at around 8:30pm on December 10.
A press release from the Fire and Emergency Services informed that one kutcha house and one government quarter were gutted in the inferno. Property worth Rs 26.48 lakhs approximately was lost in the inferno.
While a quick response team led by Duty Commander, SI Sevi Kera, ASI Hamjen Phom, ASI Dzesengutuo Keyho and ASI Hanso Khuing Limms was pressed into action with six fire tenders, it took the fire team 1 hour and 19 minutes to combat the fire.
The press release informed that “due to timely response from the fire team, property worth Rs 20 lakhs could be salvage and the flames were prevented from spreading to other areas. No casualty was reported. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
Earlier in the day, another fire had broken out at Monkhola, opposite ICICI bank, Kohima on December 10 at around 9:25 am.
A quick response team, led by Duty Commander ASI Dzesengutuo Keyho, was mobilised from Fire Station South. One fire tender along with personnel were pressed into action. The fire was brought under control and prevented from spreading to surrounding areas. No casualty was reported.
The press release informed that the fire was caused due to LPG leakage.
