KOHIMA, FEBRUARY 25 (MExN): Major General Pradeep C Nair, AVSM YSM, Inspector General Assam Rifles (North) visited Sainik School Punglwa, on February 25.  The General who had all throughout his appointment given personal interest for the development and well being of the school, had come on his final visit before being posted out of his present appointment, a press release issued by PRO Defence, Lt Col Sumit K Sharma stated. 


On arrival, the General Officer was given Guard of Honour by the Senior Division NCC cadets of the school.  Post reviewing the Guard of Honour, the General Officer was briefed by Gp Capt Prasun Basu, the Principal about the recent development and activities in the school.


In his visit that lasted over an hour, the General Officer, an alumnus of Sainik School, National Defence Academy and Indian Military Academy, inaugurated the Swimming Pool and addressed the cadets and staff.  


In his address, the General Officer said that every time he comes to the school he is filled with a sense of nostalgia.  He touched upon the increased number of Nagaland cadets joining the school and expressed optimism that the trend will continue and more cadets will make to the National Defence Academy.  The General Officer expressed his desire that every cadet shall excel in life in one or the other avenues of life.


After his address, Gp Capt Prasun Basu, the Principal presented the school memento to the General Officer as a token of remembrance and gratitude.
