Dimapur, March 2 (MExN): Fire & Emergency Services (F&ES) personnel in Noklak, Dimapur and Kohima averted major jungle fires in three separate incidents on March 1. No casualties were reported.
According to updates from the RO (E), F & ES, Kenny Khing, a detached team from Fire Station Tuensang who were stationed at Noklak were called to control a fire that broke out near KBCA Komking, Noklak. Fire tenders along with sufficient equipment and personnel were pressed into action to control the fire and prevent it from spreading. The updates stated that it took the team led by Duty Commander ASI Mziegwangteing, one hour and 30 minutes to combat the fire. The cause of fire could not be ascertained, the updates stated.
In another incident, an F&ES response team led by Duty Commander SI Kenyuyhun Kent responded to a fire call at the School of Agricultural Science and Rural Development, Nagaland University, Medziphema. The team from Fire Station Chümoukedima proceeded to control the fire and managed to control the fire after three hours.
The updates stated that plantations and crops were destroyed in the inferno. However, the cause of the fire could not be ascertained.
Meanwhile, a team led by Duty Commander SI Inaka responded to a fire call at Meriema Village, Below New High Court, Kohima. The F&ES team from Fire Station Kohima (North) took about two hours to control the fire and prevented it from spreading. The update also informed that the cause of fire could not be ascertained.
